Vehicle Story: Vehicle Story: I drove to Oklahoma in spring 2002, and picked up two jeeps. One, a 47, had been rolled and had a lot of good parts, but the body was the worse of the two, so that one was stripped and went to the boneyard. The other was hauled back to Wisconsin, where I spent the next year strippin it down to a rolling chassis. July 2003 I hauled it to a frendīs body shop/garage and am nearing completion of the bodywork. I have also been rebuilding the new engine, a F-161 (hope it fits!) so I can hope to be driving it soon. The body pictures are just before primer was put on, over 2300 lbs of sand used to blast it. Never believe Oklahoma vehicles are rust free!
UPDATE:
The jeep is in primer and has been blocked. I welded on the rear panel below the bumper. I have also been working on the engine and bought a new set of rings for it. I am going to start assembling!
Update:
Temporarly installed F-161 and transmission. I need to re-route the oil line that goes to the head, but the engine fits well other than that. Before installing, I started up the engine n the stand, and it runs so nice! The jeep is out of the bodyshop in primer (bright yellow) and after one last sanding, can be painted. Canīt wait!
Update:
I painted my jeep, installed the engine and transmission. Cleaned out the rear end, but in a new seal, has 4.55 gears and is a 23-2. I took it for a spin (my first time in a jeep moving under its own power) and it was nice. Still a lot of work to do, but I am getting there!
UPDATE:
Wiring nearing completion, all glass installed with new rubber. Minor clutch work completed, starting to feel like it is a dependable vehicle rather than yard art.
