Vehicle Description: This 4x4 wagon has the L226 with all the standard equipment. The truck is fitted with the warn overdrive and Montgomery-Wards Air Conditioning system (see Dash photo). The truck also has two spare tires and two fender mounted gas cans. Due to the unavailability of 15" radial tires in the stock size (with the necessary aggressive tread style), I bought a set of stock 16" rims from a friend (the Cactus Cowboy) and fitted Firestone Destination MT tires in the 215/85-R16 size. For all you wagon owners, I have encountered only rubbing issues when making tight turns, otherwise they fit and work GREAT!

Vehicle Story: I have traced the history of this truck back to the mid 70´s. It was owned by a man in Moab, Utah who was a truck collector. Due to a town ordinance against unregistered vehicles, it spent many years stored in one of several haystacks that could be found on his property. It was purchased by a friend of his who was looking for a Willys wagon to restore in 1977. Over the next two decades, the truck was restored to it´s present condition. In 1994, it´s owner, a park ranger, was tragically killed in a snowmobile accident while affecting a wintertime rescue in Yellowstone National Park. It then spent the next 11 years in a barn, being periodically started and driven on short trips by his widow. She finally decided to part with it a few years ago but was looking for someone to keep it original as her husband would have wanted. She is a close friend of my wife and I and she knew I collected early Broncos. She had been trying to sell it to me but due to my reluctance to diversify (I already had an expensive Bronco habit), I declined until this June. I bought it, rebuilt the carb, and it started right up. I changed out the bias ply tires as mentioned in the description, and have been driving it ever since. It will be entered in it´s first show in a couple of weeks and then off to a body shop for a respray.
